National Day of Service Photos

I participated in the National Day of Service by packing personal items for active duty service members stationed overseas. It was a wonderful experience! The Vice-President and Dr. Biden had been to this site earlier in the day. The Target dog even stopped by!

The Capitol West Front

This is the view of the Capitol on Saturday. The white chairs are for the blue and red sections. The grassy area is the orange and green standing area.  I am in the orange area. This section also runs along the sides.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial

This weekend is not only the Presidential Inauguration, but it is when America celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I visited the memorial and video taped my experience.

***Welcome to Washington, D.C.***

Welcome to Washington, D.C. – Video Link

On Saturday, January 19th, I visited many sites around our nation’s capital. I will be posting them throughout the day on Sunday. In some of the videos you may hear helicopters or other tourists. I tried to video without many distractions, however, at the popular spots, that was not always possible. My focus for Sunday, however, is to make sure that I am rested for the big events on Monday! The town is buzzing with excitement and I have met people from all over our nation, which has been really fun! Yesterday when I was outside of the White House and at the west front of the Capitol, where the swearing-in will take place, the people were sharing with each other what they had already seen in the capital and where they were headed next. The skies were clear and the air was crisp…beautiful. Time to go and explore a bit more…then rest!
