In 1841, President William Henry Harrison was the first president to travel to Washington, D.C. for his inauguration on a train. Even through his travels to the Capitol would take less time than if he had traveled by horse and buggy, his inaugural address was the longest in history. It lasted over an hour containing 8,445 words. Ironically, he was president for only a month before he passed away after getting pneumonia following his inauguration.
